Powers and Duties

Plan & Prioritize

Recommend priorities for present and future state building needs, as well as an annually updated Five-Year Building Plan

Master Plans

Review and approve agency and institutional master plans

Establish Guidelines

Establish design criteria, standards, and procedures in the planning and construction of new or remodeled buildings

Rules

Adopt rules necessary for the discharge of duties of the Building Board and DFCM

Allocation

Allocate appropriations for capital improvements to specific projects

Statutory Changes

Recommend to the Governor and the Legislature any statutory changes necessary to ensure an effective, well coordinated building program

Report

Present a report of leased space to the Legislature annually and approve leases longer than ten years

Mission

The State Building Board serves as a policy board to assess and prioritize the State’s capital facility needs; to advocate high quality facilities that are safe and economical; and to oversee the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the State’s capital facilities.
